Flower pots come in all colors and shapes at garden centers. However, if you want to be creative and would like to have something unique, you can make your own flower pots and use all kinds of materials.

The right flower pot for every plant
In the garden, the terrace, the balcony or even in the room, the flower pots are also eye-catchers in addition to the plants. Unusual specimens testify to individuality and creativity. It is not that difficult to make flower pots from a wide variety of materials. The selected vessels only have to meet a few conditions:
- they should be stable enough for the plant
- they need a drainage hole for irrigation water
- they should be portable
When it comes to design, it is up to you how you best present the new pot.
Convert possible objects from everyday life into a flower pot
Basically, any container can be used as a flower pot if it is properly prepared. For example, old plastic bottles, cans, baskets, shoes, even old car tires are well suited. Of course, you can also redesign disused clay and plastic pots. Painting, covering with foil or small stones are simple options. Your imagination is the limit.
Biodegradable flower pots
They are made of a material that decomposes and composts over time. They are available as growing containers in garden stores, but are relatively expensive. You can also easily make biodegradable flower pots yourself.
All you need is, for example, toilet paper rolls or egg boxes.
- Take a toilet paper roll and cut several slits about 2 cm long down one side.
- Fold the resulting strips inwards so that they are on top of each other.
- Put a piece of newspaper or parchment paper inside to keep soil from falling out.
- Now fill the roll with soil.
- Sow and water.
- As soon as the seedling develops its second leaf, it can be planted in the garden soil with the cardboard tube.
Similarly, egg cartons can also be used. Put potting soil in the wells and sow. Once the plant seedlings in each segment of the box have reached a certain size, each segment can be separated and planted directly into the ground.
