For various reasons it is sometimes inevitable that a tree in the garden has to be cut down - be it because it has grown too big and takes up too much space or because wood-eating fungi have nested in the trunk. You don't necessarily have to remove the remains of the tree trunk, instead you can get creative and use them to beautify the garden. Other parts of the tree trunk, cut to size and debarked, are also ideal for decorating interiors.

A tree trunk can be beautifully planted

Integrate a tree trunk into the garden

Such a residual tree trunk in the garden invites you to turn it into an art object. With a bit of manual skill, you (or a suitably gifted friend) can carve pretty figures out of the wood: animals, for example, or a totem pole with an Indian touch. A toadstool, on the other hand, is quite simple, even for people with two left hands: Saw a second part of the tree trunk into a kind of flat dome - the lower side is flat, the upper side is curved - and paint the "mushroom hat" bright red. White dots complete the picture. Finally, screw the “hat” onto the tree trunk - the mushroom is ready.

Suggestions for beautifying the tree trunk in the garden

A tree trunk is also suitable

  • hollowed out for planting - fill in potting soil and plant flowers
  • as a climbing aid for climbing plants (if high enough)
  • provided with a flat plate as a garden table
  • as a storage option for planters (fix them securely!)
  • as seating, for example integrated into a seating area in the middle of a secluded part of the garden

Of course you can also decorate the tree trunk, for example by decorating it with a lantern chain suitable for outdoors.

Indoor tree trunk decoration ideas

Now, of course, not the whole tree trunk remains in the garden, but only a more or less high stump. The rest of the trunk can be cut into different pieces of different heights and used for interior decoration. For example, they are suitable as rustic ones

  • Seating or storage space, for example in the bathroom
  • Side table in the living room
  • Coffee table in the living room
  • bedside table in the bedroom
  • Storage space for potted plants

and much more. You can use the logs in their natural state, but you can also debark them and coat them with a clear varnish. In addition, the tree trunks can be provided with feet or legs (e.g. with the help of metal tubes) or with rollers.

tips

Before processing, the tree trunks for indoor use should be carefully dried, otherwise cracks may appear.
