In the care of rolled turf everything revolves around a balanced water supply right from the start. Stop guessing how to properly water ready-made lawn. We'll tell you how often and in what quantity you do it right.

Casting begins on the laying day

Freshly laid turf is thirsty - very thirsty. Therefore, start by watering the new lawn on the day of installation. That is how it goes:

  • In the evening hours, water the finished lawn with 15 to 20 liters per square meter
  • The sod should be wet to a depth of at least 7 centimeters
  • Continue in this manner every 1-2 days for the next 2 weeks
  • The frequency of blasting depends on the weather

If the sun is burning down from the sky on the day of laying, water the fresh lawn rolls while you are working. To determine how wet the turf is, poke a wrench into the sod. This should be wet over a length of 7-10 centimeters after pulling it out.

How often to water the turf in summer?

During the warm season, a lawn evaporates up to 20 liters of water per square meter every day. If the natural amount of rain does not immediately compensate for this loss, the green should be watered promptly. How to do it right:

  • If the lawn leaves no longer straighten after stepping on them, there is a need for watering
  • Water the turf with 10 to 20 liters of water per square meter
  • For this quantity, the lawn sprinkler runs for an average of 2 to 3 hours
  • A measuring cup placed in the irrigation area should be filled with 10 to 20 milliliters at the end
  • Never water the lawn in direct sunlight

Water the finished lawn with this amount a maximum of 2 times a week. If you water in small amounts every day instead, the moisture only penetrates the surface of the sod. The result is weak rooting of the grasses, making them even more sensitive to drought.
