The Amazon sword plant (bot. Echinodorus bleheri or bleherae) is a very popular plant for freshwater aquariums. In good conditions in a sufficiently large aquarium, it will reach an imposing size and stretch its extraordinary flowers out of the water.

How do the flowers look?
The flowers of the Amazon sword plant are relatively small with a diameter of about 1.5 centimeters. They form no infructescences. However, small daughter plants grow on the inflorescences, through which the sword plant can easily be propagated. The small plants usually grow well and are very easy to care for.
The essentials in brief:
- relatively large plant, up to 60 cm high
- small flowers, up to 1.5 cm in diameter
- flower color white
- sterile flowers, i.e. no fruit set
- forms daughter plants on the inflorescences, making it easy to propagate
tips
The Amazon sword plant also blooms in a swamp bed at appropriate temperatures, then even more luxuriantly than directly in the water.
