For many months, the colorful bromeliads ensure a good mood in living rooms and offices. Once it has dried up, there is uncertainty among hobby gardeners as to how to proceed with the houseplant. Read here what to do now.

Once the bromeliad has dried up, the mother plant will die

Dried flowers do not mark the end of the care program

Since most bromeliads bloom only once and then die, pruning will not initiate a second flowering season. Still, there's a compelling reason to continue caring for the dying bromeliad. At the end of the flowering period, daughter plants develop at the base of the plant. Once these have developed a height of 10 cm and a strong rosette of leaves, they are separated from the mother plant. Potted in bromeliad soil, the children bloom within 2 to 3 years.
