With its colorful but delicate flowers, the freesia is considered an exotic beauty. Coming from South Africa, however, it is also a very demanding plant and not easy to care for or even overwinter.
Freesias are anything but hardyWhat does a suitable winter quarters look like?
Freesias do not tolerate frost at all, so they must be taken out of the ground before the first frost. Only the tuber is overwintered. Store them in a dry and airy place, for example in a wooden or cardboard box filled with straw. The freesia does not need light or water in winter.
