Do you have a flower bulb and a forcing vase to hand? Then you can start immediately. The only thing you need to get the bulb to bloom is water.

  1. Check that the forcing vase is suitable for the size of the flower bulb. The flower bulb must not slip through the narrow part of the vase.
  2. Lift the bulb again to fill the vase with water. The water level should be so high that there is still about 1 cm of free space to the underside of the onion.
  3. Darken the bulb to encourage root development at the beginning. You can easily make a blackout hut yourself out of cardboard. It stays on the onion until it sprout at the top.
  4. Set the jar bright and cool. The optimal temperature is around 10 degrees Celsius.
  5. Check the water level regularly. If necessary, add some water. However, the flower bulb should not be wetted with water.
  6. Bring the jar into a warm place as soon as flower buds appear.

You can also turn any jar into an onion jar, as long as there is enough space. It should also be tall to give the flowers support. Large glasses are particularly useful when several flower bulbs are used at the same time.
