Of course you want to get rid of pests quickly, but chemically loaded fungicides are definitely not the way to go. That's why you can read on this page how you can easily ban whiteflies from your plants with a specially produced rapeseed oil solution.

How does rapeseed oil control work?
A mixture of water and rapeseed oil covers your plant like a film. This does not take any damage. However, the whiteflies can no longer access oxygen and consequently suffocate.
Which cooking oil is suitable?
You can use conventional rapeseed oil from the supermarket for the treatment. It is therefore a very inexpensive method of controlling the pest.
If you own an oil press, you can of course also make the rapeseed oil yourself.
Make a rapeseed oil mixture
- Mix a solution of 30% canola oil and 70% water.
- Pour the solution into a spray bottle.
- Spray the affected plant several times at timed intervals.
The right time for the application
Anyone who has observed the behavior of the white fly knows how lively the animals sometimes buzz around the plant. Therefore, it is best to spray the rapeseed solution onto the crop in the early hours of the morning. On the one hand, the animals are still sluggish and you have a better chance of catching most of them. On the other hand, there is a lower risk of the so-called magnifying glass effect. This is the burning of the leaves when exposed to direct sunlight due to small water droplets refracting the light.
Apply the canola oil solution about every four to five days.
More tips
- Primarily spray the undersides of the leaves.
- Isolate the plant from other growth to keep the whitefly from moving.
- Consume the rapeseed oil solution as soon as possible or only make small quantities, as the mixture does not last long.
