The basement room for hibernation should ideally be two to ten degrees warm. Ventilate the room daily so that humidity can escape and shoots and buds do not begin to rot.

Make sure that the soil in the flower pot does not dry out too much, causing it to clump together and thereby suffocating the roots of the hydrangea. Water the plant moderately but regularly whenever the top inches feel dry.
