The home of the often bicolored flowering hydrangea (Hydrangea serrata) are the mountain forests of southern Japan and Korea. There, the rather small flowering shrubs grow under tall trees and therefore in shady locations. They also prefer one in the home garden.

Light shade is ideal
The perfect location for this type of hydrangea is a lightly shaded or semi-shaded place under taller trees. However, the plate hydrangea is also sun-tolerant to a certain extent, provided that its high need for moisture is satisfied. It rains a lot and frequently in their homeland, which is why it is important to ensure that they have an adequate water supply. The soil is ideally loose, well-drained, slightly acidic and also very rich in nutrients. Plate hydrangeas are among the heavy consumers not only in terms of water, but also of nutrients.
tips and tricks
However, make sure that the humidity does not get too high, because then more moisture-loving fungi and bacteria such as gray mould, powdery mildew or leaf spot disease will settle.
