Pull out root suckers and cane shoots
Regularly destroy all young plants. Carefully pull root shoots out of the ground, pulling out as much of the root as possible. You can pull the root suckers out of the ground with a joint knife. These measures must be carried out consistently over two to four years so that the mother plant is weakened and no longer forms new shoots.
Clear trees and rootstock
Chop down the tree and dig out the stump and rootstock. The root system of the main root can reach up to two meters deep into the ground. If you can't dig it up, saw off the stump near the surface. Cut deep grooves in the wood and fill them with compost. This measure accelerates the rotting processes. You should refrain from eradicating them with Roundup products, as this chemical control is not promising and pollutes the environment.
Destroy root network in the area
The shallow side roots crawl through the top layers of soil. Remove the soil in layers within a radius of ten meters around the vinegar tree to a depth of at least 30 centimeters and remove all root parts from the substrate. Before you apply the removed soil again, you should thoroughly sieve the substrate. New vinegar trees can grow from small pieces of root. If necessary, you must repeat this measure after two to four years.
Limit large inventories
To control a large stand, you need to cut down the trees from the outside in. The roots are promoted by felling the trees, so that they sprout more. Tear out the root suckers with the root system as far as possible. This way the core zone gets smaller year by year until finally you can kill the mother plant.
