In the hedge, the planting distance of privet should be between 30 and 50 cm, depending on the size of the plant. Lay a planting ditch, then you can correct the distances later.
If you plant privet as a single shrub, the distance to other plants should not be less than one meter. The roots will not damage masonry and sidewalks, so you can place the shrubs close to buildings and paths.
