Great effects can be achieved with a small stream, even in strictly formal and modern gardens. A stream made of stainless steel looks particularly good when you connect it to a small pond or water basin. For a perfectly straight, elegant stream like this one, we recommend a square or rectangular pond that is only minimally planted - for example with individual water lilies.

Simple installation of the stainless steel channel

The construction of a stainless steel stream is very easy with the help of a prefabricated channel. This simple form consists of different shells that are plugged into each other depending on the required length. And that's how it works:

  • First measure how long the stream should be and how many channels you need for it.
  • Various elements that can be combined with one another are commercially available.
  • As a rule, however, curvy streams are not possible, at most in an angled form.
  • Dig out the stream, compact the soil well.
  • This must be absolutely level.
  • If necessary, even it out with sand or gravel.
  • Pad the pit with weed protection fleece.
  • If you are not installing a water basin, dig in a water reservoir.
  • This is located at the lower end of the stream channel.
  • It also contains the submersible pump.
  • Seal the joints between each gutter with waterproof tape.
  • Now screw the connecting plates.
  • Now install the screwed gutter.
  • It should be level or have a slight slope towards the water reservoir.
  • The return hose should be installed next to (not under!) the stream.
  • Carry out a test run.
  • Cover the edges, for example with gravel, crushed stone or paving stones.

The design of the border determines the overall impression

In the case of a modernistic stream made of stainless steel, the design of the surroundings or the border is decisive for the overall impression. The shape should be clearly recognizable and sharply defined, but does not necessarily have to be rectangular or square. An oval, a circle or narrow stripes also support the formal garden image. At best, the motifs are repeated in the further design of the beds, so that a harmonious overall impression is created.

tips

The strictly formal stream channels can not only be made of stainless steel, but also of aluminium, plastic, concrete or natural stone. Brick stream channels are particularly interesting in this context.
