Having your own sauna in the garden is the dream of many fans of healthy sweating. You don't even have to build a special garden sauna for this, a Finnish bath can also be integrated into a "normal" arbor. If a few basic requirements are met, this is actually a lot easier than you might think at first glance.

The conditions
- A sufficiently large garden shed, (24.90 €) if possible with two separate rooms, can be expanded very easily.
- Alternatively, you can build a wall in a house with a corresponding floor space or integrate a sauna cabin.
- A wall thickness that is not too thin makes sense so that the cozy warmth on cold winter days does not fizzle out.
- Electrical cables for the sauna oven are of course also required.
The installation
If both rooms of the arbor have a window, a small conversion measure is necessary first. The room in which the actual sauna is integrated should definitely be windowless. With a little manual skill, this is easy to achieve with garden houses made of wood.
The sauna area
When fitting out the interior of the sauna room, everything that is necessary for relaxed sweating is installed:
- Sauna loungers at different heights
- the sauna oven,
- Shelves and hooks for the bathrobes or the ladle,
- thermometer and hygrometer,
- pleasantly subdued light that spreads a wellness atmosphere.
The rest area
Since electricity for the sauna is already available in the garden house, the relaxation area can also be equipped in a contemporary way.
- Comfortable sun loungers with soft cushions invite you to relax.
- An electric heater ensures a comfortable room climate.
- Various drinks are available in a panty kitchen.
- A small music system creates a pleasant atmosphere.
- Curtains on the windows and the view of your own greenery are then just the icing on the cake.
Cooling down after the sauna session
Create a small, hidden area in front of the garden house sauna. Here you can integrate a stable garden shower, in which you can refresh yourself undisturbed, protected from prying eyes. When planning, keep in mind that deciduous trees lose their leaves in winter, i.e. in the season when the sauna is used very often. A wooden privacy screen is a better choice.
tips
Depending on the required conversion work (sanitary facilities, electricity), a new building permit may be required. The responsible municipalities provide information on this.
