Some terrace owners are spoiled for choice whether they prefer undisturbed privacy or whether they want to enjoy the morning or evening sun falling from the side on their own terrace. In such a case, you can rely on flexibility and decide, for example, to install a side awning made of PVC fabric. Depending on your needs, you can stretch these along the side line or simply leave them retracted like an awning. Plant troughs with a climbing frame for decorative climbing plants are a natural variant. These can be rearranged and moved on a case-by-case basis if they are not dimensioned too large and heavy.

The desired privacy screen along a terrace can be implemented particularly permanently if a stone wall is erected. However, prior to such a construction project, detailed information about the local approval and safety regulations must be obtained. In some cases, it can be a little less complicated to have a stone wall made of gabions layered on top of it as a prefab. Stone privacy walls have the advantage that they also effectively shield cool gusts of wind from the terrace and, with a south-facing orientation, can act as a heat store for the heat of the sun.

With prefabricated privacy screen elements from the hardware store, a thoroughly aesthetically pleasing privacy screen for a terrace can be realized within a few hours. If this is to be erected above ground, iron ground sockets can be hammered into the ground. These give the square timbers to be set up between the wooden elements a secure hold and protect them from rotting to a certain extent. If the privacy screen is routed over paved ground, appropriate screws and metal brackets should be attached with a special drill, since the paving stones themselves then serve as the foundation for the privacy fence. Privacy screens made from pallets look particularly decorative if the patio furniture itself is made from pallets.
