By redesigning the garden, another place for the garden house would often be nicer. You may also be able to get hold of a used gazebo at low cost, which you would like to dismantle at its old location and set up again on your property. But is it worth moving at all or would it make more sense to buy and set up a new house right away?

No risk-free action
If you are moving an older summerhouse (€24.90), you must consider the following points in advance:
- If you move the garden house, it can warp. In the worst case, connections break and it is no longer stable. Therefore, the basic substance of the house should still be very good.
- Dismantling and rebuilding can cost more than delivering a new home.
- A foundation is required at the future location and therefore usually also a building permit.
- You are not allowed to place the house anywhere. For example, the statutory distances to other properties must be observed.
Move garden shed by hand
Small tool sheds that are still in very good condition can often be carried to the planned location by hand. Ask enough strong helpers for help, because such a house weighs quite a bit. A good variant is to transport the hut on wheels using round timbers that are removed at the back and put on at the front.
Dismantle and rebuild garden shed
Larger huts can hardly be raised and therefore have to be dismantled before moving. It is practical in this case if the assembly instructions are available. Starting from the back, you can use this to disassemble the arbor step by step into its individual parts. You then transport the handy elements to the new parking space and set the house up again.
Move garden shed with a crane
This method is the most expensive. However, this is often the only option if it would be too expensive or complicated to dismantle and reassemble the arbor. Even if the hut is not screwed but nailed, you should give preference to this variant. Please keep in mind:
- The crane requires a lot of space and can affect the environment.
- There must be no obstacles in the swivel range.
tips
Especially when the arbor is getting a bit old, the effort to convert it is often not worth it. A new summer house is relatively quick to set up and you can be sure that you will not experience any unpleasant surprises when dismantling.
