In and out, open and closed, the door in the arbor or in the tool shed has to be able to withstand a lot. As a result, after many years of use, it often no longer closes properly, and appears worn and worn. What could be more obvious than simply building and renewing a door that can no longer be repaired?

Building a door takes some talent and the right tools

There are various options for this:

  • A wooden panel as a simple door leaf
  • A visually appealing door with frame construction
  • A model made of boards and U-profiles

A panel as a door leaf

This variant is very easy to produce because there is no complex construction. However, you have to make sure that the wooden board used is not too heavy. The implementation is very simple:

  • Cut plate to size.
  • Sand and smooth edges.
  • Pre-drill holes for the fittings and the door handle.
  • Attach these and install the new door.

The door with frame construction

This slightly more complex model looks very appealing to the eye, but is still relatively easy to build. The construction consists of three layers: an inner and outer frame, between which the door panel lies. You can design these from wooden boards or strips according to your taste. Additional center braces are integrated for greater stability.

Build a door out of boards and U-profiles

With this construction, the frame is replaced by practical U-profiles into which narrow wooden boards are inserted. Well suited for this design are boards with tongue and groove, which are firmly glued together. Instead of the frame, you then place the profiles around the resulting wooden surface and attach the fittings and the door handle.
