A sandpit should only be used for play, not as a litter box. You can hardly prevent this from a public playground, but you can in your own garden. Like mold, cat poop can cause serious problems.

Cats are reluctant to be seen in the sandbox

Harmful microorganisms and worm eggs can occur in cat faeces, even if the cat is apparently healthy. It doesn't matter whether it's your own cat or that of a neighbor - it has no place in the sandpit. Therefore, get a tarpaulin that is easy to attach or build a wooden cover so that the sand stays clean.

Protective measures against cats:

  • tarpaulin
  • make sure it is properly fastened
  • Wooden lid
  • Cover the sandbox during a longer break (lunch break)
  • ALWAYS cover at night
  • Change sand regularly if necessary

tips

Get in the habit of covering the sandbox immediately when no one is playing in it. Cats like to use soft surfaces as a toilet in which they can bury their droppings.
