Yellow leaves on the Kentia palm almost always indicate an infestation by pests. How do you recognize the pests and what should you do when Kentia palm trees turn yellow?

Yellow leaves are usually a sign of pest infestation

Yellow leaves are a sign of spider mites and scale insects

If yellow leaves appear on the Kentia palm, examine the leaves closely. Scale insects show up on bulges on the leaves. Spider mites are not visible to the naked eye. Spray the fronds with water. If there are small webs in the leaf axils, the Kentia palm is infested with spider mites.

You can cut off the yellow leaves so that a residue of three to four centimeters remains on the trunk.

Rinse the palm with lukewarm water to wash away the pests. Provide higher humidity in the room to prevent yellow leaves from pest infestation.

tips

The Kentia palm is one of the non-toxic indoor plants. It is therefore also ideal if there are children and pets such as cats in the household.
