Normal garden soil or potting soil from the hardware store is not suitable for breeding Venus flytraps. This soil is far too nutritious and not loose enough. As a substrate use special soil for carnivores. You can also mix the plant substrate yourself.

Mix soil for the Venus flytrap
All organic materials that do not contain lime and remain nice and loose are suitable:
- peat (white peat)
- Peat Moss (Sphagnum)
- quartz sand
- gravel
- expanded clay
Two-thirds of the substrate should consist of peat, to which the other materials are mixed. You can also fold in styrofoam balls to keep the soil nice and loose.
You can get special carnivore soil at the hardware store. Alternatively, you can use orchid soil for your Venus flytrap. However, this should at best be weakly fertilized.
tips
The substrate for Venus fly traps should be as loose as possible. Because the peat decays over time, you'll need to periodically repot the plant and place it in new carnivorous soil.
