The petunia, which is mostly cultivated in this country as a balcony plant, originally comes from South America. A carefully selected location can have a huge impact on the growth and flowering of this plant.

Preferably in full sun
Although petunias will grow in partial shade if necessary, only a location with full sun exposure will really get the plants going during the summer flowering period. In addition, the plants need at their location:
- enough water
- a permeable substrate
- occasional care (e.g. plucking off wilted flowers)
Protected from wind and rain
While hanging petunias tend to be cultivated on the balcony or in hanging baskets, upright petunias are also used for planting graves or in troughs. However, it is important to note that petunias grow better with some protection from gusts of wind and rain. Without a roof, rainy summer seasons can sometimes become a problem and encourage petunia diseases.
tips
Purchased young plants and specimens grown from seeds may only be planted out in the spring after the ice saints, as petunias are very sensitive to frost.
