Whether you sow it or grow it as a preferred plant, St. John's wort is easy to plant, care for and harvest. But only at a location that is conducive to it will it be something, with the cultivation success!

St. John's wort likes it sunny and dry

Sunny-warm and dry-poor

St. John's wort feels in the right place in a sunny and warm location in the garden. It can also thrive in semi-shade. It only shows slow growth and flowering in the shade.

The substrate requirements are usually easy to meet. St. John's wort wants a soil that ideally has the following characteristics:

  • calcareous
  • humorous
  • rather low in nutrients than high in nutrients
  • dry
  • profound
  • permeable
  • sandy, gravelly or rocky

tips

When choosing a location, make sure there is sufficient distance between the plants! The distance should be at least 15 cm and better 30 cm.
