Plant girl's eye properly
Ideally, you should plant a self-bred or ready-bought lady's eye in the bed from mid-May. In a sunny location, the summer beauty of the flowers comes into its own when arranged in small groups. Therefore, create several planting pits in the nutrient-rich, humus-rich and loose soil that have 1.5 times the volume of the root ball. Before you stuff a beautiful face, it is allowed to soak up enough water in a container until no more air bubbles rise. Follow these steps to continue:
Plant damsel's eye in the pot or balcony box, place one or more shards of pottery over the water drain as drainage.

care tips
The exemplary care of girls' eyes rests on the following pillars:
Fertilize the flowers in the bucket every 14 days with a liquid preparation and simply snap off wilted flowers. Before the first frost, put the planters in a frost-free winter quarters.

Which location is suitable?
With the girl's eye, a sun worshiper will move into your garden and onto the balcony. Therefore, plant the beauty of the flowers in full sun to sunny locations, where they will impress with their gracefulness and long flowering period. In perennial borders, summer meadows or romantic cottage gardens, the beautiful face sets colorful accents and acts as a decorative bed border. On the sun-drenched and wind-protected edge of the wood, the bright yellow blossoms come into their own in front of a dark backdrop. The flower shows its strengths when the soil is rich in nutrients, fresh and moist and well drained.

The right planting distance
The charming plant genus presents us with flowers of different growth heights, which require a coordinated planting distance. For the most common types, we have put together the right values for you here:
What soil does the plant need?
In a warm, sunny spot, the lady's-eye does its best when the soil is structured like this:
Thus, the busy flower thrives in any good garden soil, as long as it is not too acidic or very calcareous. In the bucket or the balcony box, the summer beauty feels comfortable in common potting soil, optimized with sand or expanded clay. (19.73 €)
What is the best planting time?
Plant early lady's eyes in the bed from mid-May when the danger of delayed ground frosts has passed. You can place the young plants in the flower box (€16.99) or pot as early as April, as long as the containers can move into a frost-free room at night by mid-May.
When is flowering time?
With bright yellow, white or pink cupped flowers, the Maideneye adorns every sunny perennial border and pot from June to October. The Little Girl's Eye unfolds its dainty ray flowers as early as May. The perennial shrub is at the peak of its beauty in July. If you then cut off the withered flower stalks halfway up, a second burst of buds will set in for a magnificent second bloom.

How to cut a girl's eye properly
The cut plays a key role in professional cultivation. Secateurs are used on these occasions:
If self-sowing of the lady's eyes is desired, leave the withered flowers in the bed until late winter. At the same time, the remaining parts of the plant act as a winter retreat for beneficial insects of all kinds. If you are aiming for a controlled spread of the perennial, cut off the flowers in good time before seed heads form.

Pour girl's eye
The sunnier and drier the location, the more often the watering can is used. Under normal weather conditions, the natural rainfall in the bed usually covers the water requirement. Water here only during summer drought. Avoid sprinkling the flowers and preferably water directly onto the roots with the spout. The substrate dries out more quickly in the planter, so that it is watered regularly as soon as the surface has dried.
Fertilize girl's eye properly
Fertilize the damsel's eye organically every 3-4 weeks from May to August with compost, horn shavings, guano (€121.99) or chicken manure. Nettle manure in combination with a mulch layer of leaves and grass clippings also covers the nutrient requirement. In the tub and balcony box, the pretty face is happy about a dose of liquid fertilizer every 14 days. From the end of August/beginning of September, stop giving fertilizer so that the perennial matures before winter.
Diseases
Occasionally powdery mildew spreads on the pretty foliage of girls' eyes. The fungal infection can be recognized by a mealy-white coating. Cut off all affected leaves immediately and dispose of the clippings in the household waste. Then mix 900ml of water with 100ml of fresh milk and spray the infected flower every few days until there are no more symptoms.
pests
Arm beautiful faces from the day of planting against voracious snails with moving barriers. If tiny aphids colonize leaves, flowers and shoots, drive away the plague with the classic soft soap solution. To do this, mix 1 liter of water with 1 tablespoon each of pure soft soap and alcohol. Filled into a hand sprayer and applied at intervals of 2-3 days, the pests soon run away.
hibernate
If the garden is located in a winter-harsh region, we recommend the following precautions for a safe hibernation of lady's eyes in the bed and on the balcony:
Small pots with a diameter of less than 30 cm move to frost-free winter quarters because they could freeze through within a short time. In this case, please cut off the pretty face close to the ground so that no diseases and pests spread here. It is important to note that the bed should be watered every now and then during frost and in winter quarters so that the flower does not dry up.

Increase girl eye
Where the girl's eye ensures a good mood throughout the summer, the desire for more copies is awakened. How good that the propagation is so uncomplicated. We have compiled an overview of the most practical methods for successful offspring breeding for you here:
When choosing your preferred propagation method, please consider that young plants grown by sowing usually only bloom in their second year.
How do I plant correctly?
If you replant a girl's eye every 3-4 years, this measure proves to be a rejuvenation cure for the undemanding perennial. In early spring, dig up the rootstock and place it on a stable surface. With a spade or knife, divide the bale into two or more segments. Plant these in loose, humus-rich soil in a sunny location while maintaining the previous planting depth and water generously.
Girl's eye in the pot
In the pot and window box, the Little Girl's Eye is the main attraction. As a substrate, we recommend a nutrient-rich pot plant soil, enriched with lava granules for the best permeability. Some shards of pottery above the water outlet act as protection against waterlogging. Maintenance is limited to the following activities:
Ideally, a frost-free winter quarters is available for pretty faces in the pot. Larger vessels with a diameter of 30 cm or more can be wrapped in bubble wrap and placed on a block of wood in front of the south wall of the house. The substrate receives a layer of leaves or compost as a protective layer against frost and moisture.
Is girl eye poisonous?
As a member of the diverse daisy family, the damsel's eye is not contaminated with toxic substances. So enjoy the summer blooms in the family garden without any worries, because the bright yellow beauty poses no danger to children or pets.

Girl's eye does not bloom
If the girl's eye denies you the longed-for flower, there are various reasons behind it. A little patience is usually all that is required, as this is a seedling-propagated flower that only blooms in the garden from the second year. In addition, a location that is too shady will stop flowering. You will also wait in vain for the flowers to bloom in acidic or waterlogged soil.
