Since carrot seeds are very small and light, they are quickly sown very densely in the rows. However, as the actual fruiting body, the deep root of the carrot needs enough space for unhindered development. If there are a lot of carrot plants close together, you will only get thin roots when you harvest them and they are not very useful.

Separate the carrots without rejects

Since carrots are rarely grown and pricked out in pots, there is usually only a need for singulation in rows sown in open ground. However, excess carrot plants do not have to be thrown away. With a little finesse, you can transplant these to a free spot in the vegetable patch by watering the soil beforehand and then carefully pulling the plants out.
