The harp shrubs are a whole plant genus with numerous different plants. Among other things, the so-called "piss off plant" is one of them, Latin: Plectranthus caninus. This sometimes strongly scented plant should not only keep cats away from the garden beds.

The effect is also directed against dogs or rabbits, but depends on the weather. Strong sunlight intensifies the scent of the essential oils, which is supposed to drive away unwelcome guests. Young bushes may not yet develop their effect sufficiently. Some animals are completely unimpressed by the scent of the harp bush, for many people it is not even perceptible. Nevertheless, allergy sufferers should be careful when dealing with the harp bush.
The essentials in brief:
- Effect is weather dependent
- Young plants do not yet develop sufficient fragrances
- generally harmless to humans
- Fragrance hardly perceptible to humans
- Be careful with allergies
- usually not hardy
tips
For a satisfying effect, plant the plants close enough together, no more than a meter apart.
