The best and probably the healthiest - because they are not stored and heated - are hazelnuts from your own harvest, for example from your garden. But how should they be dried after harvesting?

Dry outdoors
The hazelnuts should be dried with their shells on so that the seeds do not go rancid. Outdoors:
- semi-shady place protected from the weather
- Spread nuts on the floor or hang them in nets
- Beware of animal eating
Dry in your own four walls
Whether in the dehydrator, in the oven at 50 °C or open on a tray in the apartment - the hazelnuts can be dried in different ways. The following points are worth noting:
- Suitable locations: air-dry rooms, e.g. B. on a heater or on the window
- do not put them on top of each other, but separate them
- turn regularly
- Duration: up to 6 weeks
tips and tricks
The dried nuts are ideally stored in air-permeable containers such as bags or nets.
