Very large blood plums
After luxuriant growth, the rose plant can be thinned out during the summer months. For this purpose, remove entire branches, including twigs and leaves. The growth character of the Prunus cerasifera Nigra should be preserved.
If the tree is to increase its fullness and height, it is advisable to cut off the entire central shoot. In this way, all growth energy goes to remaining side shoots. The blood plum gets a shapely crown.
This means:
- do not cut all branches
- definitely: branches growing inwards
- The basic shape of the crown or hedge is retained
- Cut to astring, do not leave any stubs
