Planting lilies: the right time for bulbs, seeds and young plants
Lily bulbs should be planted in fall or spring. Pre-grown young plants from the hardware store, garden center and the like are best planted from March and by May at the latest. The seeds of lilies should be sown in the fall. Alternatively, they are stored in the refrigerator and sown in the spring.
But there are two exceptions among lilies that should not be planted in spring or autumn. They are planted in late summer between late August and late September. These are:
- the madonna lily
- the Turk's cap lily
