The pink, violet or white flowers looked too beautiful. But now they have dried up and are hanging limp. What now? Can cyclamen be cultivated further?

When do cyclamen usually fade
Between February and March, most cyclamen are no longer fun. Then they look forward to the end of their heyday. On the other hand, cyclamen that are outdoors do not bloom until February, when it gets milder, and can bloom until April. But by May at the latest, all the cyclamen will have faded.
Faded too early? That's behind it!
If you keep your cyclamen in a pot in a cozy and warm place in your home, you shouldn't be surprised if the flowers retreat early. The cyclamen does not like temperatures above 16 °C. Therefore, it should be placed in a cool location during its flowering period.
Do not throw away after flowering, but plant out
After the flowers have said goodbye, the cyclamen forms its fruits and seeds with its last strength. At this time it does not look very attractive. Therefore, many discard their cyclamen in the pot after the flowering period. But if you own a garden, you should rather plant this plant out than dispose of it. After the summer it is brought back in and blooms again.
Find a suitable location outside
Outdoors, the cyclamen needs a shady or semi-shady location. A location under a tree that provides shade in hot summer is ideal. The soil on site should have the following properties and should only be poured sparingly:
- permeable
- relaxed
- moderately nutritious
- humorous
- neutral to alkaline
Multiply cyclamen after flowering
After plucking out the old petals, you can wait for the fruit with the seeds to emerge. Cyclamen can be easily propagated with them. A suitable time has also come for dividing the tuber after flowering.
tips and tricks
Even if watering is neglected and the soil lacks nutrients, flowering will be shortened or not at all. Therefore: water your cyclamen plentifully and fertilize it regularly just before and during the flowering period!
