Pole beans can be harvested from July or August, depending on the variety and the time of sowing. You can do the soil by hand or with scissors. Here you can find out how to cut your runner beans and then process them in the kitchen.

Cut or clip runner beans for harvest?
In principle, it is up to you whether you remove your runner beans by hand or with scissors or a knife. Snipping by hand is a little faster, but the beans can irritate the skin of sensitive people. Clipping the beans by hand with gloves is not recommended.
If you are going to trim your runner beans, make sure the cutting tool you use is clean and sharp.
tips
If you want to save time and work, you should cut the runner beans just below the cones that connect the runner beans to the plant. That hard part has to be removed before cooking anyway.
Cut the runner beans in the kitchen
Before cooking, you should cut your runner beans. Two things in particular are removed:
- the cones with tips and stalks
- any threads
Here's how to do it step by step
- First wash your runner beans thoroughly under clear water.
- Then, using a sharp, straight-bladed knife on a wooden board, cut off the stems and tips. Be sure to use a small board for this, otherwise you will surely cut your skin little by little.
- If your runner beans are stringy, pull off the string along with the tip completely on one side.
- Then pull the thread on the other side from the lower point.
- If your runner beans are very long, it makes sense to cut the beans in half.
