Since the wisteria does not like waterlogging, plant it in a container with a hole in the bottom. This allows excess irrigation or rainwater to drain off easily. An old potsherd placed over the hole prevents the drain from being blocked by soil.
How do I care for wisteria on my balcony?
Similar to a bonsai, the roots should also be pruned if there is wisteria in the pot. In addition, it needs to be watered daily, in summer during the flowering period and twice on hot days. It is best to water in the morning and/or early evening.
From early spring until the end of flowering, fertilize your wisteria once or twice a month. Alternatively, you can use a slow-release fertilizer that is applied less frequently. However, make sure that the fertilizer has a low nitrogen content, otherwise your wisteria will not flower as desired.
