Some gardens have a loamy, rather moist soil, which can only be drained with a lot of effort. Or you are looking for a suitable tree to plant in the newly created garden pond. Fortunately, the selection of tree species with high water requirements is quite large - so there are suitable trees and shrubs for damp locations.

Which trees prefer moist locations?
In rather damp locations in the garden, you should plant trees that can take a lot of water and feel comfortable in such an environment. On native species you can use the following:
- White poplar (Populus alba)
- White willow (Salix alba)
- Black poplar (Populus nigra)
- Black alder (Alnus glutinosa) and other alder species
- Ash (Fraxinus excelsior)
- Bird cherry (Prunus padus)
- field elm (Ulmus minor)
Also other willow species such as this one
- Osier (Salix viminalis)
- Almond willow (Salix triandra)
- Purple willow (Salix purpurea)
- Gray willow (Salix cinerea)
- Ear willow (Salix aurita)
are ideal for damp locations. They also don't mind wet feet at all.
tips
To ensure that the moisture in the soil is better retained, you should mulch the tree disc thickly. This prevents excessive evaporation.
