- Damaged cutter bar increases the noise level
- New lawnmower blade lowers the noise level - this is how the change works
Not paying attention for a moment while mowing the lawn and the blade crashes into a rock or other hard obstacle. As a result, the mower makes loud, rattling noises. This guide explains how to solve the problem in detail and in a practical way.

Damaged cutter bar increases the noise level
The blades of a lawnmower are not prepared for violent impacts with stones and similar obstacles. A single collision is enough to seriously damage the cutter bar. Loud rattling noises and strong vibrations are the result. Admittedly, the mishap does not mean that you dispose of the entire lawnmower. By replacing the chipped cutter bar, you eliminate the problem.
New lawnmower blade lowers the noise level - this is how the change works
In order to replace the damaged cutter bar, you need a new lawnmower blade that matches the type and a wrench. On the petrol mower, turn off the fuel cock and pull the plug from the spark plug. Please pull out the mains plug on the electric mower, remove the battery on the cordless mower. How to change the lawnmower blade correctly:
- Tilt petrol-powered lawn mower with the carburetor up
- Put on gloves and block the cutter bar with a piece of wood
- Use the wrench to remove the old lawn mower blade and washers
- Hold the knife and remove the piece of wood
- Pull off the cutter bar with a twisting movement
Place the new lawnmower blade on the screw hole. Using two fingers, first tighten the screws on the washers so that they no longer fall off. Then use the wrench to tighten the screws. Ideally, use a torque wrench to screw on the knife exactly according to the manufacturer's instructions. For safety reasons, we recommend using new screws and washers.
Finally, put the lawnmower upright again. On the petrol mower, open the fuel cock and reattach the spark plug connector. Put the battery back into your cordless lawnmower.
tips
If a collision of the lawnmower blades with an obstacle can be ruled out as the cause of the noise, you should clean the lawnmower thoroughly. Also include the air filter and the spark plugs, as deposits of dirt particles increase the noise level of the engine.
