Potted roses feel right at home in the garden

When is the best time to plant out?

In principle, you can plant your pot rose from spring to autumn, but it should be quite vigorous and have enough time to root until winter. Therefore, the best time is from late spring to the end of summer. It is better to overwinter a late-bought pot rose in a frost-free winter quarters.

Where does my potted rose feel most comfortable?

The pot rose likes a bright, sunny spot with well-drained soil. Put a little well-rotted compost or horse manure in the planting hole and your potted rose will be optimally cared for for the first few weeks.

When you take your potted rose out of the pot, carefully loosen the old soil from the roots and loosen the roots slightly. Don't be surprised if the rose falls apart, there are probably several rose cuttings in the pot. The whole thing looks like a compact little plant.

Divide the cuttings carefully and plant them individually. Beautiful and sometimes quite large roses can develop from it. Water the plant well and regularly in the future.

What do I do with my potted rose in winter?

A well-rooted potted rose can spend the winter outside in the garden, but may be damaged in severe frost. Pile up the earth around the individual roses and protect above-ground parts of the plant with fir branches or leaves. Remove winter protection around the end of March when the frosts subside. If you live in a very harsh area, then think about a suitable winter quarters.
