If the anthurium has grown vigorously, it often becomes too large for its traditional place. Sometimes, however, the old plants appear sparse because the leaves have long stalks and the plant is bare at the bottom. Then dividing the flamingo flower is a good way to reduce and rejuvenate it at the same time.

method
Only large and vigorously grown plants should be divided. The ideal time for this measure is spring, when the anthurium has to be repotted anyway.
- Carefully lift the plant out of the pot.
- If this doesn't work, knead or cut open plastic pots. With clay pots, sometimes the only option is to destroy them.
- Gently pull the root ball apart and divide into two or three sections with sufficient root mass.
- If necessary, use a very sharp and clean knife.
inserting the plants
Anthuriums do not form a sprawling root ball. For this reason, a flower pot that is only slightly larger than the ball is sufficient. Since the flamingo flower is very sensitive to waterlogging, the containers must have a sufficiently large water outlet.
- Cover the drain hole with a potsherd.
- Fill a drainage layer of expanded clay (19.73€) into the vessel.
- Add substrate. Orchid soil or commercial potting soil, which you loosen up with Styrofoam balls or expanded clay, is well suited.
- Use anthurium carefully. It should sit just as high as in the old flowerpot.
- Fill the vessel with substrate.
- So that the coarse fibers or the soil settle, poke a few times, press down carefully and refill substrate if necessary.
- Water well.
- Throw away any water that collects in the coaster after a few minutes.
tips
do you not have enough space for all the plants after the division? Then just give away a copy of the evergreen evergreen. Even propagated flamingo flowers are a great souvenir that will give the recipient many years of pleasure.
