Its flower is less spectacular than the ornamental decorative leaves. Nevertheless, the flowering period on the window leaf is eagerly awaited, because Monstera deliciosa produces a delicious fruit from it. We have compiled interesting information about the Monstera flower for you here.

Monstera blossoms are fixed dates regardless
Even experienced Monstera gardeners cannot predict when a window leaf will flower for the first time. A variety of factors influence it, such as the optimal location and proper care. Since Monstera species live up to 200 years and older, they take 10 years or more to flower for the first time. This is how the flower is staged:
- Each flower rises on an inflorescence stem that arises from a leaf axil
- A cylindrical spadix is surrounded by a creamy white bract
- The hermaphrodite flowers can appear at any time of the year
- The ripening period of a fruit after pollination is 12 months
It is therefore not uncommon for a vigorous window leaf to have synchronously closed and opened blossoms and ripening fruit at an advanced age. Only the fruits of a Monstera deliciosa are suitable for consumption. All other parts of the plant, including the petals, contain toxic substances. If consumed in large quantities, these can cause symptoms of poisoning, such as severe nausea, stomach pain and vomiting.
