The leaves of the monster leaf are very decorative

From the leaf to the decorative bowl - this is how the trick works

To turn a large monstera leaf into a pretty bowl, all you need is air-hardening modeling clay from the craft store, a sturdy surface, a rolling pin, and a sharp kitchen knife. Sandpaper should also be at hand for fine work. Follow these steps correctly:

  • Shape the modeling clay into a ball with your hands
  • Roll out the ball with the rolling pin to the size of the leaf on the surface
  • Cut off the petiole and place the window leaf with the back on the modeling clay
  • Press the sheet on and carefully peel it off again
  • Trim the contours of the leaf with a kitchen knife

Lay out the modeled leaf shape together with the base for drying in such a way that it must bend. A woven basket or a flat box are well suited for this. The window leaf peel is completely dry within 24 to 48 hours. Add the finishing touches to your authentic Monstera Leaf bowl by smoothing out any imperfections around the edges with the fine sandpaper.

Monstera leaf as a vase decoration - eye-catcher with benefit

Its majestic window leaf is a green treasure trove for decorative vase decoration. The exotic climbing plant has long since blossomed from being an extra to a leading actor in creative living space design. So why not set the majestic leaves in a vase? This creative design variant also scores with a pleasant side effect. How to do it:

  • Cut off the selected leaf with a sharp, clean knife
  • Cut the lower end at a slight angle and leave to dry for 60 minutes
  • Fill the vase with rainwater or stagnant tap water
  • Add a bit of charcoal to prevent rot
  • Place in a bright location that is not in full sun

By changing the lime-free water regularly, the window leaf will last for weeks in the vase. With a bit of luck, fresh roots will sprout from the cutting point on the leaf stalk. If you have had enough of the vase decoration, do not throw away the leaf. Potted in a bucket with potting soil, convert the decorative leaf into a cutting and grow a young window leaf from it.

tips

Despite all the enthusiasm for the magnificent window leaf, please note that the exotic climbing plant has a dark side. The arum plant is permeated with toxic ingredients that can trigger unpleasant allergic reactions just by skin contact. Therefore, please wear gloves for all cutting and care work.
