Growing a money tree is very easy. The houseplant is easy to propagate and does not require too much care. Only the location and the temperatures have to be right for money trees or penny trees to remain healthy.

Easy propagation from cuttings
The best way to propagate a money tree is through cuttings. To do this, either cut off top cuttings of about 12 centimeters in spring, let them dry for a few days and then put them in prepared seed pots. (16.68€) Alternatively, you can also place them in glass of water until they root.
Even a single leaf or parts of it is enough to grow a money tree. All you have to do is place the leaves on the prepared substrate and press down a little.
The cuttings are placed bright and warm - but not directly sunny. The soil is kept moderately moist. The cuttings will root within a few weeks.
Caring for a money tree properly
Place the money tree in a bright, warm place, preferably outside in summer. It tolerates direct sun well. Only after repotting or as a cutting does it not like direct sunlight.
It is poured sparingly so that the root ball does not dry out completely. During the growth phase from March to October, one fertilization per month is sufficient. In winter there is no fertilizer and less watering.
The money tree is not hardy and must be cared for at temperatures between 5 and 16 degrees. In summer, the temperatures should be between 20 and 27 degrees.
What to do if the leaves change color or fall off
If the money tree is not doing well, this is primarily reflected in the leaves:
- they fall off
- turn yellow
- show brown spots
- become soft
White dots are usually not a sign of disease or pest infestation, but rather too much water in the substrate. Red coloring of the leaves is also harmless. It is caused by strong direct sunlight.
Most harmful leaf discoloration is caused by a wrong location, too frequent watering and fertilizing or by pest infestation with mealybugs or spider mites.
tips
In principle, a money tree can also be grown from seeds. However, it is much more complex to sow it than to use cuttings for propagation.
