Pitcher plants (Nepenthes) should never dry out completely. Regular watering and an increase in humidity are therefore necessary. However, there are a few things to consider when watering the carnivorous plants.

The pitcher plant needs rainforest-like conditions

Water sufficiently, but avoid waterlogging

The pitcher plant substrate should never dry out completely. Therefore, water the plant regularly, especially in summer. Rainwater is best. If necessary, you can also use distilled water or boiled tap water.

If possible, do not pour directly onto the substrate or the leaves of the plant. It is best if you place the planter on a saucer and fill it with water.

In winter, Nepenthes needs less water. The humidity does not have to be quite as high.

tips

If the pitcher plant no longer forms new pitchers, the location may be too dark. However, it may also be due to low humidity. Most pitcher plant species prefer a humidity level of at least 60 percent.
