Vibrant, lush green colored leaves, over which pretty clusters of flowers appear every now and then in summer. The Cyprus grass seems harmless. But is it?

Non-toxic to humans and animals
Cyprus grass is non-toxic for both humans and animals such as cats. You can therefore safely use it as a houseplant, put it in the aquarium or plant it in the shallow water zone of the garden pond.
You can recognize the Cyprus grass by this:
- swamp plant
- upright to slightly overhanging
- long, narrow, green, pointed leaves
- Average size 1 m
- often triangular, smooth culms
- the flowers are at the upper end of the stalks
- Flowers have leaf-like bracts (15 to 25 pieces)
tips
Although Cyprus grass is non-toxic, you should not offer it to your pets to eat. It usually has sharp leaf edges and is difficult to chew due to its hard nature.
