The pasque flower is one of the most popular early bloomers in the garden. With their intensely colored flowers and silvery hairy foliage, they set attractive accents all year round. If the Pulsatilla likes its location, it requires little care and even multiplies on its own.

The demands on the location
The pasque flower prefers a garden spot in full sun where the soil warms up in early spring. Cold, wet locations and waterlogging must be avoided at all costs.
The soil should be as nutrient-poor as possible, rich in bases, calcareous and well drained. Alkaline means that there must be sufficient dissolved calcium, potassium, magnesium and sodium in the soil. The pasque flower needs these nutrients in order to thrive vigorously and healthily. Top soils with a natural sand content are well suited. A self-regulation of the nutrient content takes place here, which the pasque flower likes very much.

These special soil requirements make the Pulsatilla a grateful rock garden plant. Make sure, however, to place the pasque flowers in a rock garden on a slope, sheltered from the wind.
