Whether its graceful growth, its shapely leaves or simply its rich green color - there are several reasons to propagate the Schefflera. You do not necessarily have to buy seeds in stores. A schefflera that is already growing well can easily be reproduced…

Use head cuttings or stem cuttings
Both head cuttings and stem cuttings are known for rooting well in the radiant ara. In the spring before budding the time has come. For the head cuttings, use the shoot tips and for the stem cuttings use parts of the already lignified middle part of the plant.
Cut off the shoots and prepare for sticking
In the course of a pruning, you can get shoots that you can use for the cuttings propagation. This is to be noted:
- 15 to 20 cm long
- Cut edge should be slanted
- like to let the approach to the trunk stick to the cutting
- remove lower leaves
- leave upper leaves
Wait for them to root
Now the shoots come in a pot with potting soil. Move them in there about 5 cm. The substrate must then be kept moist to ensure rooting. You are welcome to put plastic foil over it so that the moisture does not evaporate. Place the pot in a warm (20 to 25 °C) and bright location.
You can also place the shoots in a glass of water. They are also rooted in that. Use low-lime water for this. The water should be changed every 2 to 3 days. The glass is placed in a bright place for rooting. After several weeks, white root threads appear. Then it's time to plant the cuttings.
Leaf cuttings: You can also make something out of the leaves
You can also use the long-stemmed leaves of this houseplant as offshoots. They should still be green and strong. Cut them off along with their long stem.
Then you either put them in a pot with soil or in a glass with water. It is best to cut off 3 to 5 pieces at once, as not all leaf cuttings always take root.
tips
Be sure to use a healthy mother plant for the offshoots! Otherwise existing diseases could also be transmitted to the offspring.
