Saxon Switzerland: Sweden holes
This gorge leads up through gorge-like rocky alleys over 700 steps and two iron ladders. It got its name during the Thirty Years' War, when the local farmers fled here with their belongings. You should allow three to four hours for the hike, which requires a certain level of fitness. Access to the Sweden holes is free.
Upper Bavaria: Partnach Gorge
This gorge impresses with its special magic. The bubbling Partnach has dug 80 meters deep into the rock here. The approximately 700-meter-long path leads through tunnels and passages hewn into the rock. Wafts of mist hang mysteriously just above the water. It's dripping everywhere. Colorful rainbows form in the few places where sunlight reaches the deep gorge.

Allgäu: Breitach Gorge
The Breitachklamm in Oberstdorf is the deepest rock gorge in Central Europe and is also one of the most interesting geotopes in Bavaria. The water of the Breitach has dug almost a hundred meters into the rock and falls far down over rocky banks. Thanks to the well-secured paths, this gorge is also suitable for a family outing with children.

Rhein-Lahn district: Ruppertsklamm near Lahnstein
This 1.5 kilometer long gorge offers a fascinating hiking experience. You should be sure-footed, because you have to shimmy between high rocks on ropes that are attached for safety. Admission to the Ruppertsklamm is free.
Upper Black Forest: Ravenna Gorge
The Ravenna Gorge is a narrow side valley of the Höllental. The Ravenna stream makes its way here with many small cascades and larger waterfalls. Tall fir trees provide pleasant shade, making this hike a pleasure even on very hot days. Admission is free.
tips
In the gorge it gets humid even on hot summer days. As a result, the paths are often slippery. It is therefore essential to wear suitable footwear on your gorge hike. A rain jacket in your luggage doesn't hurt either.
