Pears can be preserved in a variety of ways. In addition to waking, drying the fruit has proven its worth. In the following text you will find easy-to-follow and tasty recipes.

Boil pears
As soft types of pears disintegrate quickly when canned, it is advisable to preserve only ripe types with firm flesh.
In addition to the fruit, you will need jars with a rubber ring and locking clip or screw-top jars that are not too small. Alternatively, glasses with a swing top are suitable. All vessels must be carefully sterilized before filling the fruit.

to wither pears
Fruit was preserved by drying as early as the Middle Ages. Unfortunately, pears often turn very dark when dried, which doesn't look so nice. The reason for this is the process of oxidation, which the industry prevents with sulphur.
At home, simply put the pieces of fruit you want to dry in a bowl with a liter of water for 5 minutes and add 4 teaspoons of powdered ascorbic acid or half a liter of lemon juice.
ingredients
- Ripe but not mushy pears.
- A dehydrator. Alternatively, you can dry the fruit in the oven. There are also practical drying inserts for many hot air fryers.
preparation
- Wash pears thoroughly but do not peel.
- Quarter the fruit, cut out the core.
- Slice into slices.
- Place the pear quarters next to each other on the drying rack and dry at 55 degrees for around 15 hours.
- The pears are dried when you can no longer feel any moisture in the thick part. The surface then feels rough and quite hard.
tips
You can also freeze pears. However, this will make the fruit very soft. However, when defrosted, they can be easily processed into jam or compote.
