A garden table should not only look pretty, it must also be stable and weatherproof. Purchased garden tables made of larch or other woods are relatively expensive. If you are skilled with a saw and screwdriver, you can simply build your own garden table out of wood and WPC. A lot of money can be saved in this way.

With the right tools, building your own garden table is no problem

Build a garden table yourself from WPC and wood

A good and, above all, inexpensive alternative to purchased wooden garden tables is a table made of wood and WPC that you build yourself. For this you need manual skills, some material and a few tools:

  • saw
  • miter saw
  • (Cordless) screwdriver
  • sandpaper
  • folding rule

Before you go shopping, draw a plan so you can determine the size of the garden table and what material you need. You can also find and download suitable templates for a garden table made of wood and WPC to build yourself on the Internet. These templates also include all the necessary materials, so they serve as a shopping list.

Buy wood and WPC at the hardware store

When you know how long and high you want the garden table to be, it's time to get all the materials. In the hardware store, the wood for the legs and the WPC panels will be cut to size on request. This makes it much easier to assemble the table later.

You can also borrow tools from the hardware store if you don't have a suitable saw or cordless screwdriver.

Pay attention to safety when building your own

The WPC panels are connected to each other with crossbars. The table legs are then screwed on below. Work as precisely as possible so that the garden table does not wobble later.

After assembly, sand down all rough corners of the wood and WPC boards so that no one can injure themselves later.

Why is WPC well suited for a garden table

WPC is a composite of wood and plastic. This not only makes this material lighter, but also more resistant to rain and other weather influences. The wood content of WPC must be at least 30 percent. The material is malleable and does not splinter.

tips

The new garden table is even cheaper if you build it from pallets. There are hardly any limits to your creativity. Euro pallets (€29.99) are particularly well suited for this because of their high stability.
