After several years in the garden, most porch swings no longer look as nice. The covering of the seat or the roof are often so broken that you only have to re-cover the hammock. What do you have to consider?

Recover the seat of the Hollywood swing
If the seat of the swing seat is torn, you have a real problem. It is usually made of plastics that you cannot repair yourself. If it's just a small tear, a bit of duct tape stuck over the seat may be enough.
If the damage to the covering is greater, your only option is to get a replacement. There are now a number of providers who have specialized in this problem. All you have to do is send in the old fabric and decide on a new one. This will then be cut to the required dimensions and sent back to you.

Re-cover the roof

It's even easier if you sew the roof yourself. You should be able to use a sewing machine to do this. Solid material such as awning fabric is required. It is cut to the dimensions of the roof and then simply stretched.
Replace upholstery
The upholstery of the swing seat usually lasts the longest. However, if you have re-covered the swing or replaced the roof, the previous pattern often no longer fits the rest. You should then reupholster the cushions with a fabric that matches the roof and cover.
If you dare to use a sewing machine, needle and thread, simply sew the covers yourself. If you do not like to sew yourself, you can also purchase appropriate pillowcases in stores.

A porch swing will last much longer and won't squeak if you take it down in the fall and put it indoors for the winter. Snow, frost and rain put a lot of strain on the fabric. If you do not have space for the winter, you should at least cover the swing with appropriate covers.
