Beginning of hibernation
The Ismene, also known as the beautiful lily, is ready for hibernation as soon as the parts of the plant above the ground have completely withered. You should not force an earlier move to winter quarters by using scissors. Because the onion has to get the nutrients back from the leaves. You should only remove faded flowers so that seed formation does not consume any energy.

After the foliage of the beautiful lily is completely dry, you can remove it and then carefully dig up the bulbs. Long roots can be shortened. In a cool room, the tubers are spread out on newspaper. Once the clinging soil is dry, it is shaken off. But the tubers still have to dry for a few more weeks.

Do not be tempted to dry the tubers in the sun or in a warm room, this is harmful to them.
