Albuca Spiralis comes from South Africa where it grows in winter and is dormant in summer. Her spirally twisted leaves give her an unusual appearance and brought her to us. But what rhythm does the bulbous plant follow in this country and how cold can it get in winter?

Can overwinter at room temperature
Since Albuca Spiralis is not hardy, it must not stand a single frosty day. In our latitudes, the outdoor stay is therefore limited to the summer. Many retailers recommend overwintering the pot indoors. The plant can stand at room temperature, but must be given a light spot. Their owner should be able to easily do both.
Better to keep it cooler
Although it can survive room temperature, Albuca Spiralis prefers it a bit cooler during its winter break. Anyone who can offer her such a place should do so.
- hibernate between 10 to 15 °C
- lower temperatures down to 0 °C are also possible
The cool dormant period is said to encourage Albuca Spiralis to flower more beautifully. Care is limited to occasional watering.
tips
The sunnier you place the plant during the vegetation period, the more squiggly the new shoots will be.
