You have bought a house that has been unoccupied for a long time or you would like to start laying out the garden after completing your home. In both cases, the green areas have often not been maintained and are overgrown by weeds. A garden tiller is very useful here, because with this device even larger areas can be easily freed from unwanted green.
A tiller loosens the soil and reduces weeds
What is a garden tiller?
This device is a hoe powered by petrol or an electric motor, which is pushed over the surface like a lawnmower. It performs the same tasks as harrows and plows in agriculture, i.e. the device digs up the soil roughly 15 centimeters deep with rotating hoe stars. The material removed is crushed and worked under to improve the soil.
The method
1st step: Remove intermediate growth
It is important that you reach for the garden tiller (€162.69) before the seeds ripen. If the weeds have already grown, you would incorporate all the seeds and would have to laboriously weed the germinating weeds again and again.
To prevent injury, always wear safety shoes, safety clothing and gloves when handling the tiller. Safety goggles can also make sense, especially on stony ground.
Follow these steps when applying:
- Remove or fold down the transport rollers.
- Set the working depth according to the root depth of the weeds.
- Start the tiller at maximum power and throttle if necessary.
- The tiller has a forward gear and, for maneuvering purposes, a reverse gear.
- Let the device run relaxed and do not pull it backwards or push it down.
- Run it across the terrain in slightly overlapping lanes.
- Since the weeds are finely chopped, no reworking is required.
Step 2: Let the floor rest
If you want to seed the lawn or create beds, you should never do this immediately after milling. Give the earth some time to settle. In this, the disordered soil life can also calm down again.
After a reasonable period of rest, you can mechanically weed the occasional regrowing weed and start planting the garden.
