Flower pots made of clay or terracotta often look boring on the windowsill or the terrace. Creativity is required here. Each flower pot can be decorated with different materials and a little imagination, making it an extraordinary eye-catcher on the terrace or window sill.

Materials for handicraft work
Instead of pasting your pots, you can also paint the pots.
Various materials are available for the pasting:
- adhesive film
- glossy paper
- felt
- wooden discs
- cork
- pebbles
- broken tiles or tesserae
There is a special adhesive for each material, such as glue, all-purpose glue, superglue, hot glue, tile adhesive, etc. Scissors, cutter knife, ruler, possibly spatula, pencil for marking and a clean work surface are also required. Set out your work equipment and you're good to go.
A colorful can as a flower pot
Empty food cans can be upcycled into flower pots. Apart from the cleaned can, all you need is a pair of scissors and a pretty piece of adhesive foil.
- First remove the glued paper and its adhesive dots.
- Spread out the adhesive film and place the can on top.
- Use a pen to mark the required slide size.
- Cut out the piece of foil precisely.
- Remove the protective film and stick it on the can. Use a soft cloth to press the foil down so there are no creases.
Plant a small plant in the colorful flower pot and you already have a great eye-catcher on the windowsill. If you want to use the can longer, poke a few holes in the bottom of the can with a pick. Then there is no waterlogging.
A tile or ceramic decoration on the flower pot
Disused tiles, old ceramic vases or similar are broken into small pieces and glued to clay/terracotta pots with superglue or tile adhesive. Leave a small joint between the individual elements, which will later be grouted with joint mortar after drying. Now the newly decorated pot only needs to be polished and planted.
Decorate a flower pot with wooden discs or branches
Unusually shaped twigs or small pieces of wood cut from a thicker twig are also ideal for the individual design of a flower pot.
It is best to glue the wooden parts using a hot glue gun. Superglue also provides the necessary strength here. After the wood has been glued on and everything has dried well, the pot can be painted with clear lacquer from the spray can.
